Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Elizabeth (Beth). I am a twenty-something college student.

I have many interests and hobbies including (but not limited to) the following:
cooking; reading; writing; music; research—especially if it’s about languages, history, geography and names; photography; gardening; and most importantly, being with my family.

I am also a person who loves to collect things. I guess you could say that’s also one of my hobbies….
I collect such things as books (especially old ones), kitchen appliances, hats, paper/notebooks, jigsaw puzzles, quotes, and Christmas music (which I play all year).

This blog is a place for me to share thoughts, feelings, and general ramblings. Feel free to read and comment.

My list of favorites:

Books/Authors
Jane Austen all the way! She is absolutely my favorite author, and Pride and Prejudice is absolutely my favorite book. I also loved Sense and Sensibility, Persuasion, and the fragment The Watsons as finished by John Coates. Other favorites are George MacDonald, G.K. Chesterton, J.R.R. Tolkien, Elizabeth Cleghorn Gaskell, Daphne DuMaurier’s Rebecca, Norton Juster’s The Phantom Tollbooth, Lloyd Alexander, Edith Schaeffer, Elisabeth Elliot, and Madeleine L’Engle. Just to name a few…

Music
I will listen to pretty much anything, but especially if it’s from the Medieval/Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, or Romantic eras. I love Irish/Celtic, Appalachian, bluegrass, cajun, marches… often I’ll pick music based on instruments used. Some of my favorites are the hammered dulcimer, fiddle/violin, banjo, piano, organ, piccolo, and snare drum. As for modern music… movie soundtracks! …Pirates of the Caribbean is on of my favorites. Some of my favorite bands/artists are Relient K, Thousand Foot Krutch, Brad Paisley, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Newsboys, Nicole Nordeman. I also hold a special fondness for hymns, and prefer them over modern worship music. My favorite song of all time: the ‘Hallelujah Chorus’ from George Frideric Handel’s “Messiah”

Movies
Pride and Prejudice (A&E/BBC’s 1995 5 hr. version), Sense and Sensibility (again BBC’s long version), Luther, Wives and Daughters, Princess Bride, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Rebecca
